Eli Manning has proved he is among the best

When Eli Manning said last summer that he was among the top 5 quarterback's in the NFL, most of us got a little chuckle out of that. Who is laughing now? Manning, with the help of a great receiving chore, has proven us all wrong. Manning is one of the best quarterback's in the NFL and when he beats Tom Brady in the Super Bowl for a second time, he will become the only Giants quarterback to win two Super Bowls in franchise history.

Giants ready for Smash-Mouth football vs 49ers

Let me just say---with no prediction yet---that Sunday's NFC championship shapes up as a classic. This game will be different for the Giants, because the San Francisco defense is very good and so much better than the Packers, Falcons, Cowboys or Jets who the Giants faced the last four weeks. The 49ers will try and hammer Eli Manning much like they did against Drew Brees. The Giants' defense is rolling too, so don't expect a crazy high scoring game, but expect a classic.

Packers 23-20

I would love to see the Giants win Sunday at Green Bay, and the way they are playing right now that's not out of the question. What they did four years ago at Lambeau field means nothing on Sunday. Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback this time around and not Brett Favre. Rodger's does not throw to the wrong team very often and he will not get rattled by the pass rush of the Giants. I picked the Packers and Patriots to meet in the Super Bowl with the Packers defending their title. The Giants are peaking at the right time, but it won't be good enough to beat Rodger's and Green Bay. Packers advance with a 23-20 win.

Who wins between the Giants and Packers?

The Giants are playing their best football, but I am still having a hard time picking them to win the game. The Giants can beat the Packers because they almost did once this season at Metlife stadium. But, will they beat the Packers on the road on Sunday. Giants are a 9.5 point underdogs, but forget the spread. Are the Giants winning this game?

Giants ready for the postseason

All of a sudden this Giants team has a dangerous feel about it with the playoffs set to begin on Sunday. It's not because of their offense---that has been solid all season---but it's because of their defense. The Giants are healthy on the defensive line just in the nick of time. They sacked Tony Romo six times Sunday night and I would look for more of the same against Matt Ryan and the Falcons this week. I thought Green Bay was a lock to get to the Super Bowl, but I am not so sure about that right now.

Giants will beat the Jets

I am picking the Giants, and it's because of the season quarterback Eli Manning is having. Eli will outplay Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and the Giants defense as bad as they have been, will get pressure on Sanchez and force him into making mistakes. It will come down to turnovers, it always does, and Sanchez will lose that battle.

Giants vs Jets Showdown game

I am leaning toward picking the Giants because of Eli Manning. Outside, of last Sundays poor performance, he has carried his team. Mark Sanchez has struggled most of the season. Quarterback play usually makes the difference. Who are you picking to win Saturday's showdown at Metlife stadium and why?

Mets are mess

The Mets again are a mess and their financial woes are only a part of it. GM Sandy Alderson says ace pitcher Johan Santana, coming back from shoulder surgery, may not be ready for the start of the season. Jose Reyes already is gone and David Wright could be next. How much worse can it get?

Boeheim not off the hook

Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim does not get a free pass in the sexual abuse allegations against his long time assistant Bernie Fine. It's possible Boeheim had no idea what was going, but for someone who has known Fine for 30 plus years and considers him a close friend it's fair to ask Boeheim how he did not know what was going on within his own program. Covering up evidence got Joe Paterno fired at Penn State.

Paterno Fired

The firing of Joe Paterno did not come as shock to me, you could see it coming, but it's still a sad ending to a great and legendary college coaching career. I was hoping Paterno would have been able to coach the rest of the season, but this sex scandal blew up, and the PSU board of trustees felt like they had no choice but to clean house. They had to protect the image of Penn State, and I understand that. Paterno never had a chance to speak his mind before the final decision was made, and he never met directly with the board. He was told over the phone. Does not seem fair for someone who coached 46 years at that school, and for somone who did it the right way. Paterno's image has been tarnished, although I am still waiting for all the facts and I am still waiting to hear from Paterno. Paterno said in a statement he wished he had done more, and so do many other Penn State fans. What a shame.
